A Message from the Alumni Office regarding Alumni Interviewers:
Greetings from Hanover and a special welcome to our newest interviewers, members of the Class of 2013! Fall term is in full swing as the Class of 2017 fills the campus with typical freshman energy. Meanwhile, admissions officers are traveling all over the country (and the world) recruiting the next class of Dartmouth students. As we prepare for the upcoming interviewing season, we have three important updates for you:
- Updates to the Enrollment Volunteer Website
- NEW: Code of Conduct for the Interaction with Minors
- Alumni Interviewing Webinar
1. Updates to the Enrollment Volunteer Website
We have made substantial updates to the Interviewing Tools and Resources section of the Enrollment Volunteers website. The new website is intended to be a central resource for all involved in the interviewing program.
All interviewers, experienced and new, should familiarize themselves with the Alumni Interviewing Program Guidelines/Best Practices, found here. This important document provides both a general overview (purpose of the program, role of the interviewer) and covers specific topics (who can be an interviewer, interview location, conducting the interview). Many of the best practices and policies addressed in the document are drawn from feedback received from students, guidance counselors, admissions staff and alumni volunteers.
2. NEW: Code of Conduct for the Interaction with Minors
In accordance with new guidelines at Dartmouth for the protection of minors who participate in College-sponsored activities, all alumni interviewers must affirm that they understand the Code of Conduct for the Interaction with Minors as it pertains to the alumni interviewing program. You will find the specifics of the Code of Conduct for the Interaction with Minors when you log onto I-Track. Interviewers will need to click the “I understand” button at the bottom of the page before you will be allowed to continue to the site.
3. Alumni Interviewing Webinar
The Admissions Office will be hosting a webinar on Monday, October 14th at 12:30pm EDT to kick off the 2013-2014 interviewing cycle and discuss the updated Guidelines and Best Practices. Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid Maria Laskaris, along with Isabel Bober and David Jiang, will be on hand to interact through web chat with interviewers and answer questions live. On October 14th, visit http://www.livestream.com/dartmouth and the video stream will start automatically. If you cannot attend the webinar, we will post the video online shortly afterwards.
As always, thank you all for your energy, enthusiasm and commitment to Dartmouth.
